Hi! In this video, I’m going to show you how to power your backup camera system from one power source. For this demonstration, I’m using a five-inch monitor and an RV camera, but this method will work with any monitor five inches and below, or with license cameras, bumper cameras, or any other type you may have.

Step-by-Step Guide

Here’s a detailed guide on how to power your backup camera system from a single power source:

1. Gather the Necessary Equipment

Ensure you have a premium power cable. If you don’t, you can find it on our website by searching for “cable” or using the link provided in the video description.

2. Connect the Camera

Take the side of the cable that connects to the camera and plug it in, connecting the RCA cable and barrel connector to the power of the camera.

3. Connect the Monitor

Connect the other side of the cable to the monitor. Remember, the monitor won’t display an image until the camera starts feeding an image into it.

4. Combine the Power Cables

To power both the camera and the monitor, you need to combine the power cables. Connect the pigtails from both the camera and the monitor, combining the red and black wires from both.

5. Power the System

Once the cables are combined, connect one set to the camera and the other set to the monitor. Then, connect the entire system to a 12-volt power source. Using alligator clips can make this easier.

Once connected, the monitor should turn on, indicating that both the camera and monitor are powered.

Troubleshooting Tips

If the monitor doesn’t display an image, it means the camera isn’t powered. Double-check all connections to ensure everything is properly connected.
